TVGuide.com has confirmed that Michelle Trachtenberg will reprise the role of mean-girl Georgina on several upcoming episodes of Gossip Girl. But… why?

We think Trachtenberg is a fine actor (she had some fun sending up a Britney-type pop tart on Six Feet Under, if you recall), but the Georgina-Serena face-off never quite came together for us. I know the producers want us to believe that S. used to be a man-eating party girl, but as played by Blake Lively, she’s as harmless as a basket of kittens fresh from the dryer. So when G. came to town all “I know who you killed last summer,” she just seemed kind of cruel, right? Not to mention that S. ultimately didn’t actually kill anyone really. Frankly, we welcomed the end of that futile storyline — and Georgina’s departure from the scene.

So why bring her back? When we last saw G., she had gotten her proper comeuppance and was being shipped off to mythical bad-girl boarding school (it’s just outside of Bridgeport, Conn., I hear), unrepentant for her girl-on-girl crimes. Do we really need more Georgina?

The yet-to-be-cast character is in his 20s and described as wealthy, confident, politically-minded and — all together now — extremely good-looking.

But before you go fixing him up with Blair, you should know that cuz is married. You should also know that his name is Kip Vanderbilt, so brace yourselves for the inevitable “Anderson Cooper cameo” rumors. But all signs are that Kip is not a descendent of that Vanderbilt family. For starters, Kip’s dad’s name is William, not Cornelius.

For 15-year-old Taylor Momsen, even a workout couldn’t stifle her personal style. I found out for myself when I got the chance to work out with the Gossip Girl star at Club H Fitness in midtown New York. Taylor showed up to the gym sporting her signature kohl-rimmed eyes and wearing black liquid leggings topped with a vintage leopard-print coat, tailored to current perfection. During the workout, she rocked Nike’s newest gear, like the super-sleek Zoom Sister One+ sneakers! Over the course of our workout, I found out some interesting facts about Taylor, like her favorite snack is Animal Crackers–dipped in water!–and that she hopes to release an album with her band. You read it here first! Kate French has been cast in a guest spot on Gossip Girl, the TV Fanatic has learned.

Kate currently stars on The L Word as outrageous actress Nikki Stevens, who is often seen in her birthday suit on the provocative series.

On Gossip Girl, Kate will play Elle, a mysterious nanny who comes to town and gets involved with Ed Westwick’s Chuck Bass.

Elle’s arrival sounds like it’s just in time with Chuck spiraling out of control over his father’s death, and his way hot uncle encouraging his bad habits.

No word yet on whether Kate be sporting the same lack of wardrobe for her XOXO stint!

Catch Gossip Girl Mondays at 8 p.m. on The CW.

The L Word, final season, kicks off Sunday, Jan. 18 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
