Gossip Girl star Blake Lively has joined the cast of The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee.

The actress will have a lead role in the comedy-drama, directed by Rebecca Miller from her own forthcoming novel.

The film stars Robin Wright Penn as a 50-year-old methamphetamine-addicted mother who rediscovers her sensual side when her husband leaves her for a younger woman.

Julianne Moore, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, Maria Bello, Alan Arkin, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Monica Bellucci are also confirmed in the cast.

Lively, 20, can next be seen in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 and anthology film New York, I Love You.

Shooting on Pippa Lee begins in Connecticut this month, claims The Hollywood Reporter.
