Salacious US celebrity blogger Perez Hilton will be writing for ITV’s website from this week, recruited to help promote the new ITV2 show Gossip Girl.
Hilton - real name Mario Lavandeira - will be writing a weekly column after each episode of the New York party girls show, throwing in his trademark celebrity gossip.
Gossip Girl is broadcast on digital channel ITV2 on Thursdays at 10pm.
Hilton’s first column will go up on the ITV.com website on Wednesday, April 9, alongside Gossip Girl galleries, interviews and a catch-up service.
Known for his harsh take on celebrity news and his trademark crude digital altering of paparazzi shots, Hilton is likely to be rather more forgiving to the Gossip Girl cast.
But the blogger has been working hard to raise his profile, most recently signing up for a regular slot on MTV’s music and gossip show TRL, which began yesterday.
The self-proclaimed “Queen of the media” has already had his own reality TV show on VH1 in the US, as well as regular chatshow appearances. He is also rumoured to be in discussion about releasing a covers album.
